Coalition for Community Safety and Justice
Who We Are
When the Coalition for Community Safety and Justice (CCSJ) was formed in 2019, our four founding community organizations envisioned a future where every victim and survivor of traumatic violence would receive culturally competent services that are tied to long-term healing and resilience in our communities.
Five years later, we are proud to be the leading community-based resource in providing direct victim services for Asian Americans in San Francisco. We run programs that reach thousands annually. We work with a range of community and government partners to make systemic and institutional changes to address violence. And we immediately address harm when it occurs through in-language and culturally appropriate resources like mental health services, case management, and other service navigation.
Founded in 2019, our four organizations — Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC), Chinese for Affirmative Action (CAA), Chinese Progressive Association (CPA) and Community Youth Center (CYC) — share a holistic model of building safety through community-building, healing, and reconciliation. By uniting our resources, expertise, and networks to magnify our collective power, we run a wide range of programs that center victims and survivors of violence, create spaces to heal and build cross-racial solidarity, and strengthen public and community safety systems.
