Cross-Racial Healing and Solidarity

Cross-racial healing and solidarity are essential to CCSJ’s community safety approach. Anti-Asian hate has put Asian American community members on guard while anti-Black narratives about Black perpetrators sow more distrust between Asian and Black communities. In addition to these tensions between Asian and Black communities, cultural and linguistic differences among immigrant communities and communities of color can create barriers to understanding and compassion. In reality, we have much in common, can find joy in each other’s company, and can work together for positive change.

This section describes programs to cultivate cross-racial healing and solidarity. Our programs range from low-stakes social events that build familiarity to more intensive events on today’s pressing social issues. We also emphasize collaboration with community-based organizations that serve different communities of color and immigrant communities.
